First Impressions

I have officially been in Spain for more than 24 hours now and I am absolutely in love with this place.

The family gave me a great welcome at the airport!

Yesterday my host family showed me around the house and cooked a delicious Spanish rice dish for dinner (although without meat so it was not so traditional haha). The next day I went to the school where in my class everyone was so friendly and nice to me. Luckily the students in my class speak English well so it was easy to communicate with them. After school, I went with my host mother and sister to shop at this really beautiful shopping street, a narrow road leading straight to the beach!!

The beautiful shopping street, ‘La Calle del Mar’, which translates to ‘the street leading to the sea.’

As for how I’m feeling, I’m doing so many new things that I’m not missing home yet, and to be honest I don’t think I will get homesick in the first 15 days at least. I was a little nervous to go to school today as I didn’t know if I would like it since I didn’t know anyone but it was really fun. Although my host mother cannot understand nor speak English, we could communicate so well and it made me realize that language doesn’t have to be a barrier to communicate effectively.

Anyways, Spanish people are so warm and friendly, I’m already in love with this country.

xx Mahi
